The Contestants and Judges
The Contestants: Symphony Hall doors will open at 6:30 p.m. to concert ticket holders on both Project Tchaikovsky evenings (April 13 & 15), allowing patrons to view the dresses, presented by models chosen by the designers, and enjoy the festive Symphony Hall atmosphere before taking their seats for the 8pm concert.
The nine contestants competing in the Project Tchaikovsky contest are: - Kelly Brown, Mass Art; Stoneham, MA

- Madeleine Hay, Rhode Island School of Design; Nantucket, MA

- Nairomi Inoa, Mount Ida College; Lawrence, MA
- Cam Yen Le, Mount Ida College; Dorchester, MA
- Kinda Touma, School of Fashion Design; Aleppo, Syria
- Samira Vargus, Mass Art; Dominican Republic
The Judges: On Thursday, April 15, the winner will be selected by a panel of five judges. Each designer will be rated in each of the following categories to arrive at the overall winner: demonstrated skills, meeting design specifications, aesthetic and overall quality of work. The judging panel includes: - Wendy Putnam, BSO violinist
- Michael DePaulo, fashion designer
- Nara Paz, fashion designer
- Alexandra Hall, editor-in-chief, Fashion Boston
- Mary Nobile King, boutique director of Chanel Boston
Jared Bowen, arts reporter for WGBH’s Greater Boston, will serve as the emcee for the April 15 post-concert event. Project Tchaikovsky is made possible with generous support from Boston Magazine, Brandon Keith Hair, event coordinator / fashion consultant Kathy Benharris, makeup artist Debra Macki, and event coordinator / photographer William Downey.
