	June 20 Father's Day Concert Bring the entire family to Symphony Hall for a Father's Day celebration everyone will love. This special interactive program journeys into the animal kingdom, featuring two of the most beloved classic works written for children: the timeless tale Peter and the Wolf and the whimsical suite Carnival of the Animals. In a dynamic collaboration with the Underground Railway Theater of Cambridge, young members of the audience participate in the performance using movement and puppetry. The program also features the enduring film music of John Williams and the Boston Pops debut of Haitian-American artist Daniel Bernard Roumain. This concert will feature a pre-concert instrumental playground.

	June 9-11 An Evening with Cole Porter Spend an intimate evening with composer/songwriter Cole Porter, one of the best-known contributors to the Great American Songbook. Stars from the Broadway stage and Fellows from the Tanglewood Music Center bring to life a selection of his many hits including “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “In the Still of the Night,” “Love for Sale,” “Night and Day,” “Don’t Fence Me In,” and selections from the Tony award winning musical comedy, Kiss Me, Kate.

	June 8 Popular NPR Show "From the Top" tapes broadcast with Boston Pops "From the Top", the preeminent showcase for young musicians heard weekly on 99.5 FM All Classical, teams up with Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops on Tuesday, June 8 at 8pm for a live broadcast taping, commemorating From the Top’s ten years on the air. The NPR taping hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley will feature the amazing performances and captivating personal stories of extraordinary young classical musicians from across the country. Young performers to be featured on the broadcast taping include 17-year-old composer Jeremiah Klarman from Chestnut Hill, MA. His Symphony No. 1 in C Minor will receive its broadcast premiere by the Pops orchestra. Also included is 9-year-old pianist Umi Garrett from Aliso Viejo, California performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, 16year-old champion accordionist Michael Bridge from Alberta, Canada performing the virtusoic Czárdás by Monti on bayan, Gabriel Cabezas, a 17-year-old cellist, who recently collaborated with Yo Yo Ma on “Good Morning America”, performing Shostakovich, and 17-year-old violinist Michelle Lee from Dublin, California performing Kreisler.

	June 4 & 5 Composer and a bandleader Duke Ellington remains one of the most influential figures in jazz, if not in American music. Join the Pops with jazz and blues vocalist Dee Daniels to pay homage to a musician who filled the world with a treasure trove of music that renews itself through every generation of fans and music-lovers. Duke Ellington wrote over 3,000 songs during his lifetime, but is best known for “It Don’t Mean a Thing if It Ain't Got That Swing,” “Sophisticated Lady,” “Mood Indigo,” “Solitude,” “In a Mellotone,” and “Satin Doll.”

	June 1 & 2 A Library of Congress “Living Legend,” 90-years-young pianist Dave Brubeck proves jazz is the fountain of youth, as he performs with his quartet to orchestral arrangements of “In Your Own Sweet Way,” “A Salute to The Count – The Basie Band Is Back in Town,” “Unsquare Dance,” and “The Duke.” The program also features the fiftieth anniversary of the chart-topping “Take Five,” performed by The Dave Brubeck Quartet on their 1959 album Time Out, which remains one of the best known jazz standards ever.

	May 29 The legendary Ray Charles set the standard for greatness during a remarkable career that spanned more than five decades. This celebration features protégé Ellis Hall singing hits including “Georgia on My Mind,” “Hit the Road Jack,” and “Unchain My Heart.” Ellis Hall is a multi-instrument virtuoso who has performed and recorded with many musical giants including Patti Labelle, John Mayer, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, The Spinners, Natalie Cole, Michael McDonald, James Taylor, and Stevie Wonder.

	May 25 & 26 Maureen McGovern, one of America’s most popular vocalists, performs a concert that features songs from her newest album, A Long and Winding Road, which finds her reconnecting with the songs that inspired her beginnings as a folk singer in the late ’60s. The album features an eclectic mix of tunes from such groundbreaking singer-songwriters as Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Carole King, and Paul McCartney. Songs include “The Times They Are a-Changin’,” “The 59th Street Bridge Song,” “Fire and Rain,” and “Let It Be.”

	May 11-14 The Boston Pops salutes Conductor Laureate John Williams, the orchestra’s conductor from 1980-1993 and one of America’s most accomplished and successful composers for film, with a special program called “Hooray for Hollywood.”

	May 4-6 Broadway powerhouse and Tony Award winning actress Idina Menzel – who currently stars on the hit FOX television show Glee! – joins Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops to perform a full set of repertoire ranging from musical theater favorites to classic pop, including new arrangements of her most famous shows, Wicked and Rent, as well as songs from her recent album I Stand.

	The Boston Pops Presents New Year's Eve with Amanda Palmer Provocative musician and artist Amanda Palmer will join Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops on Thursday, December 31, at 10 p.m., to ring in the New Year at Symphony Hall. The evening's festivities will feature Keith Lockhart leading the Boston Pops, and will feature material from Palmer's punk cabaret group The Dresden Dolls, her solo album, Who Killed Amanda Palmer, and much more. Amanda Palmer last performed with the Boston Pops on June 19 and 20, 2008.

	Richard Sebring - "The Gifts of Great Meadows" Richard Sebring was skiing near his home last January – with a new iPhone. Not realizing fully what he was about to capture when he shot the natural ice formations on the Sudbury River, he recites that upon seeing the images, “I was blown away – they seemed to reveal an entirely new world.” Richard happened to be working at the time on a new arrangement of Coventry Carol – and thought immediately how the music and the images could work together. From there, Richard says the project “took on a life of its own.” In particular, he thought that “it’d be fun to share ‘our backyard’ – the Sudbury River and the Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge— with Pops audiences.”

Digital Music: $3.99 - $4.99	"The 12 Days of Christmas" Now Available for Download! “I knew we had a winning new arrangement of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” when we premiered it in 2007, but the audience’s enthusiastic response night after night was unlike anything I’ve ever seen at the Pops,” said Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart. “Then a flood of letters and phone calls came in requesting a recording of the new arrangement—an incredibly creative twist on one of the greatest Christmas-time classics. We knew then and there that we would make a recording of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and that it would become a staple of our Holiday season programming.” This is the traditional "The 12 Days of Christmas" with excerpts from other popular songs skillfully integrated within the melody and lyrics! Think of it as a parody.The new arrangement by Broadway composer and arranger David Chase, was recorded live at Symphony Hall during the 2008 Holiday Pops season and features the Boston Pops Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival chorus under the direction of Keith Lockhart.

	A Richard Rodgers Celebration June 16 & 17 Take an unforgettable journey into the world of musical theatre as shaped by the legendary composer Richard Rodgers. One of the most celebrated songwriters of his generation, Rodgers wrote 40 Broadway musicals and more than 900 songs. 	Apollo 11 Anniversary June 12 & 13 On the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing, join the Pops in celebrating our nation’s triumphant achievement. Historic footage of the lunar landing provided by NASA will accompany a program of stirring patriotic music featuring the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, with music about our universe including Holsts’ The Planets. 	Linda Eder June 9-10, 2009 Spend a treasured evening with the versatile and beloved Judy Garland whose songs will be sung by the brilliant Linda Eder, one of the greatest solo voices of our time. In a program that showcases her extravagant vocal gifts, Eder will sing such Judy Garland favorites as “By Myself,” “Me and My Shadow,” “Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart,” “Almost Like Being in Love,” and “Over the Rainbow.”

	Benny Goodman Celebration June 2 & 5, 2009 On the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Boston Pops pays tribute to the great swing clarinetist Benny Goodman, a musical giant who became known as “The King of Swing.” In an unparalleled evening of his music, Goodman is honored by a program that includes such memorable songs as “Let’s Dance,”“Don’t be that Way,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and other favorites. The evening will also feature our annual tribute to Boston Pops Maestro Arthur Fiedler (June 5 only).

	Film Night May 26-29, 2009 John Williams and the Boston Pops salute the legendary achievement of the great MGM Musical Director Stanley Donen. The program will highlight America’s favorite musicals drawn from Donen’s distinguished career in film, such as Singin’ in the Rain, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Royal Wedding. The Pops honors the man whose creative genius reshaped musicals forever. Donen will appear with the Pops on May 28 and 29. This program also includes “Star Gazers” from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, featuring Pops' harpist Ann Hobson Pilot.

	Baseball Night/ Red Sox Album May 21-23, 2009 Celebrate the release of the Boston Pops Red Sox Album, the Pops' latest CD produced in conjunction with the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball. Hear Fenway's favorite "Sweet Caroline" and all the baseball classics including "Casey at the Bat" and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame", plus the "Star-Spangled Banner". From Opening Day to end-of season mythic battles to win the pennant, this Pops program will rouse the hearts, hopes, and fond baseball memories of all in the audience.

A Tribute to Harry Ellis Dickson

The Boston Pops honors the late Harry Ellis Dickson, a Boston musical icon,who served as Arthur Fiedler’s associate for 44 years. Together, they expanded access to classical music for millions of people. This special tribute to “Mr. Pops” will feature Ravel’s Bolero, Offenbach’s Gaité Parisienne, and many more of the Dickson favorites in a tribute to the 100th anniversary of his birth.

This program also honors Mr. Dickson's legacy of promoting young classical musicians, and will showcase a few of the most talented high school students from Boston Public Schools as part of Fidelity's FutureStage program.

	John Pizzarelli May 12-13, 2009 John Pizzarelli has enjoyed a multi-faceted career as jazz guitarist, vocalist and band leader. Internationally acclaimed for classic standards, late night ballads, and the cool jazz flavor he brings to his performances, Pizzarelli will share his signature style on the Pops stage in an evening of classic pop, swing, and stylish modern jazz. The Pops also welcomes guest artist and acclaimed cellist Maya Beiser, who will perform the world premiere of a suite by James Newton Howard, based on his film score of M. Night Shyamalan’s movie, "The Village".

	Barbara Cook May 6-7, 2009 Broadway star and cabaret performer Barbara Cook. Ms. Cook's silvery soprano, purity of tone, and warm presence have delighted audiences around the world for more than 50 years. Considered "Broadway's favorite ingenue" during the heyday of the Broadway musical, Miss Cook then launched a second career as a concert and recording artist soaring from one professional peak to another.

	"The Red Sox™ Album" May 6 - June 21, 2009 The 2009 Spring Pops Season is highlighted by the launch of the Pops' brand-new Red Sox™ Album, produced in conjunction with the Boston Red Sox and Major League Baseball, released on Monday, April 6, the opening day of the Red Sox season. Continuing the season theme, America's Favorite Pastime, music from the new CD, along with baseball-themed segments featuring celebrity narrators and film clips, will be featured in programs throughout the Boston Pops' 2009 season. 	Take Me Out To The Ball Game July 1 - 2 Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," the Boston Pops brings the sound of the stadium to the stage in this celebration of the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Hear classic baseball-inspired songs, including "The National Game," by John Philip Sousa, and the soundtrack from Field of Dreams. Music, images, stories, and video combine to pay a spectacular tribute to America's favorite pastime.

	Judy Garland In Concert June 28 - June 29 The legendary voice of Judy Garland and the symphonic sound of the Boston Pops combine in this remarkable concert event. Experience Judy's dynamic life in song as she performs on multiple screens, accompanied by the orchestra in the classic repertoire and arrangements that thrilled worldwide audiences. 	JazzFest June 21 - June 22 The Dizzy Gillespie All Stars' Symphony Sessions, with James Moody, Slide Hampton, Claudio Roditi, John Lee, Lewis Nash, and Cyrus Chestnut continue the master trumpet player's legacy. 	Amanda Palmer June 19 - June 20 The always innovative EdgeFest continues to redefine the musical boundaries of rock and tradition with Amanda Palmer of The Dresden Dolls on June 19 and 20, performing for the first time ever with orchestra. Rock bands are pigeonholed into ever-increasingly minuscule sub-categorizations, but The Dresden Dolls continue to defy explanation and classification. While some have called it theatrical rock, punk cabaret, manic-musical, neo-glam-torch,...eventually even the most clever and creative describers shrug and say: "You just have to hear it to believe it."
